BIO

I was born in Helsinki, Finland but I have been an Albertan all of my life. First and foremost, I am a librarian and scholar. I hold degrees in Comparative Literature, Library and Information Studies, and Communications and Technology. I have worked at the University of Alberta for over 20 years. I presently work in the Library Digital Scholarship Centre where I teach media skills related to photography, video and audio production. I also support digital literacy learning in 2D and 3D design, virtual and augmented reality.

PHOTOGRAPHY

I have been taking pictures all my life, but my path to a dedicated photography practice began as an extension for supporting my poetry writing. Photography has since become a central part of my life that stands on its own in my desire to capture the many contrasting aspects of the world. In addition to art photography, I take work as a freelance photographer and videographer. This work focuses on art portraiture, events and corporate work (products, services and spaces). I am also experienced in creating educational video. My approach to media production work is to find beauty and utility for my clients. I work towards capturing authentic but impactful images, that work to influence and inspire.
